Hi, I’m Andy.
I’m a first-generation Chinese-American, raised in a home where money was tight, and my parents worked nearly every day to keep us afloat. I rarely saw them; they were asleep when I left for school and came home long after I went to bed. My grandma looked after me, but she was busy too. Most of the time, it was just me, a laptop, and a TV behind a closed bedroom door.
I grew up fast. I translated everything for my parents; green card renewals, doctor appointments, tech issues, bills, government forms, phone calls, etc. If they couldn’t do it, I had to figure it out.
That experience shaped me. I became the kind of person who had no choice but to figure life out on my own; whether it was learning piano, teaching myself languages, exploring finances, or fixing tech. And now that I’m an adult, I’ve taken that same mindset into something bigger: seeing how far I can go if I really push myself.
This blog is my journey. Not to show off, but to show and document my progress through fumbles, successes, and whatever else in between. Every niche here is a branch of my life. Each one ties back to my story. Each one is a part of becoming the best version of myself.
💬 Why It All Matters
People might say my blog is “too much” or “too broad.” But I don’t see it that way.
Everything you see here is a reflection of who I’ve had to be and who I want to become.
This isn’t just about skills. It’s about self-reliance, growth, and pushing past the limits life tried to put on me.
It’s about showing that you can build something real from scratch.
And maybe, it’ll inspire someone else to start their own journey too.
🧩 The Layering That Helped Me Start
I’m not charismatic or strong. Honestly, I’m lazy and mentally weak, I would prefer to avoid things or hardships if I could. That’s why I started creating systems to make it easier to push myself when motivation was low.
I felt like I was wasting my life gaming all day. So I started stacking:
- Beer money apps to earn while I played, offsetting guilt.
- Languages layered on top, to make my time feel meaningful.
- Custom study systems, since the apps Reddit recommended didn’t work for me.
- Learning finances, by managing the few dollars I earned from beer money.
Beer money was perfect for an introvert like me. No upfront cost. Do it from your phone. Eventually, I funneled it into something with potential: investing, trading, and a deeper understanding of money.
None of this came from knowing what I was doing. It came from trying anyway.
